May and #AtoZreadathon Wrap Up!

I had a really successful reading month! I didn’t complete everything on my TBR, but I came very close and I did succeed in getting through all the letters of the alphabet for the AtoZreadathon.

I had to change the level of difficulty for the readathon from medium to easy (which means that between all the titles and the authors of the books I read this month, I was able to tick off all 26 letters of the alphabet) so that I could get through every letter. It was getting towards the end of the month and I still couldn’t find anything for J and I was a little behind schedule so I just thought it best to adjust the difficulty.

I was able to get through five books, one graphic novel and two single issue comics. Which came to a total of 1,545 pages!!

So, let’s get to everything I read this month!

The first book I finished this month was Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon.

When the month started I had 97 pages left of this and I was able to power through it pretty quickly. I really loved this book and although the ending disappointed me a little bit, it was amazing. I also went and saw the movie this month which I loved as well and I highly recommend that you go see it (but read the book first of course).

After that, I finally read King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard!

This is the third installment of my favorite series and is one of my two most anticipated reads of this year. I had been putting off reading it because my heart just wasn’t ready after what happened in the last book. But, I couldn’t take the wait anymore. And, although it broke my heart and punched me in the gut and just KILLED ME, I loved it. This is still my absolute favorite series and I can’t wait until the next one comes out.

This was my favorite read of the month!

Then, I picked up Scott Pilgrim Vol. 1: Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life by Bryan Lee O’Malley.

This is my little brothers favorite book series and he has been pushing me to read it for some time now. I was going to try and read all the books in the series this month, but sadly, that didn’t end up happening. However, I did enjoy this one. I didn’t hate it nor did I love it but, it was very enjoyable. I think that it’s something very light and easy to read between novels, which is how I plan to get through the rest of the series.

After that, I read Zac and Mia by A.J. Betts.

I didn’t really enjoy this book. I had been looking forward to this one for awhile and it just let me down. It’s not that this book was bad but it was nowhere near good either. I had many problems with it, the biggest being that there was no depth to any of the characters or the story and just UGH, I DIDN’T LIKE IT.

I then picked up X-Factor Vol. 1 No. 94, Mutant Sacrifice and The Mighty Thor Vol. 1 No. 413, The Beast Within.

These were single issue comics. I really like reading single issue comics. I usually read them between books because their fast and easy to get through. I find that it helps when I’m reading books back to back when the books I’m reading aren’t apart of a series. It’s also a quick and easy way to up your page count XD

However, I didn’t really enjoy these two. I haven’t really been enjoying the single issue comics I’ve picked up lately which has been very disappointing. I think it may have something to do with the fact that I’m reading them later in the day and therefore it’s hard to concentrate but I’m not sure.

I give both of these comics:

And my last reads for the month were Trials of Death and The Vampire Prince by Darren Shan.

These are books five and six in the Cirque Du Freak series. I have been pushing through this series per my boyfriends request and I am really enjoying them. I am exactly half way through now and all of them have been really, really good. Their more of a middle grade level book which  makes them easy and fast to read. I think that book three, Tunnels of Blood is my favorite so far. However, I think that the one I just finished, The Vampire Prince, which is book six makes a really close second. I’m really excited to keep moving forward with these and I plan to do a series overview review when I finally finish them all.

I gave both of these books:

And that’s everything I read in the month of May!!

I’d love to know everything you read this month! How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read? What was your favorite book that you read this month? Did you pick up any graphic novels or comics? Did you participate in any readathons? Leave a comment and let me know!!
